Activities at the University

Besides science, research and education, the university also supports publicly available social, cultural and sports activities.

Leisure activities offer 25 different sports to relax sufficiently. Collective sports such as basketball, floorball, water polo or traditional football will take on interpersonal relations and athletics, yoga, and climbing on the artificial wall will strengthen the individual's ability. Students can choose even modern sports, such as skin-diving, softball, Tabata or noble yachting. The sports are performed in the school athletic stadium, eight gymnasiums, baseball ground, squash and tennis courts.

The campus covers sport clubs Akademik and Slávia, choir Collegium Technicum and folk groups Jahodná and Borievka, and forms Symphony Orchestra of the TUKE. Student television and radio broadcast up-to-date information.

The TUKE publishes a university magazine entitled HALÓ TU.

Events organized on the university campus attract visitors from the whole region, making the TUKE a principal centre of both education and cultural life in the city. The university campus is naturally also an ideal place for students to meet each other and relax.

The TUKE is open to the wide public. Many popular events take place in the area of TUKE, such as Balloon fiesta, art festival „Biela noc“ or wanders with famous guide Milan Kolcun, where the visitors learn about the significant historical events from the history of the university and the city.

The TUKE aims to be the centre of an innovation ecosystem based on internationally comparable results from cooperation with practice in scientific research and development. Achieving this aim requires the existence of an institutional platform providing suitable conditions for growing innovation in the widest sense of the word and its progressive transfer into industrial and societal practice.

The central place for these activities is the modern, intelligent building of the University Science Park called UVP TECHNICOM. This is not intended to be just a physical space, but a genuine ecosystem integrating business, education, science and research. At UVP TECHNICOM start-up companies in particular have at their disposal the premises and services of the Startup Centre TUKE and the Incubator TUKE, including assistance and consultancy in the field of intellectual property.

The newly equipped university scientific research centres and the individual faculty laboratories give every student and employee, as well as people from outside the university, the chance to fulfil their dreams of a successful professional career.
